Programs

Currently, Rebuilding Together concentrates its efforts in four major program areas including:

  • Renew The Town: Local trade organizations including the city of Akron, County of Summit - Russell M. Pry, Executive, Professional Association of Comfort Contractors, the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors, Northeast Ohio Electricians, and Dominion East Ohio partner together to provide free heating, plumbing, and electrical checks to 100 area low-income homeowners.

  • Annual Rebuilding Day: Each April, we bring out the community in mass, to plan and execute rehab and repairs for at least 15 homes in Summit County — all in one day!

  • Minor Home Repair: Throughout the year, we provide limited rehabilitation to homeowners who need help but on a smaller scale. Furnaces, roofs, and other important systems are often included.

  • Home Safety Modifications: Because disabled and elderly homeowners are at greater risk for falls and other potential injuries, we install grab bars, handrails, and other equipment to provide a safer home.

  • Emergency Repair: When a need becomes a crisis, we try to assist the homeowner within 48 hours.

Since 1995, Rebuilding Together has served more than 420 homeowners leveraging volunteer labor and material donations to stretch available resources as far as possible. In many cases, Rebuilding Together has been able to return 4 times the cash investment in rehab work.

Below is a chart indicating our history of success and goal for this program year.
